Easy and fun activity to do with the kids! Make sure to use lollipop sticks that are safe for the oven and not plastic which will melt!
Pop Tart Lollipops
Ingredients
- 2 ready-made pie crusts
- jam, any kind
- flour
- water (to seal the 2 layers of the pop tart, though I forgot the first time and it was still ok)
- soy milk and granulated sugar
- Glaze: 1 cup confectioner's sugar and 1-2 tablespoons soy milk
- Sprinkles
- Lollipop sticks (optional, make sure to use oven-safe sticks that won't melt!)
- Cookie cutters (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Put some flour down on surface. Then roll out one sheet of dough a little bit. Then use cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Make sure to cut out 2 of each kind, one at the top and one at the bottom.
- Put bottom half down, press lollipop stick down as high as possible. Then spread jam in the middle. Don't put a lot of jam or else it will leak through.
- Then put water around the edges and place top layer of dough on top of that. Press down all around the edges with a fork. We forgot to use water around the edges and it was still ok. I put the water out on the table for my 3 year-old and she brushed the entire top of the pop tart with 10 layers of water. So make sure to watch your littles ones with the water!
- Brush top layer with soy milk and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- While the pop tarts are baking, make the glaze: Combine 1 cup confectioner's sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of soy milk.
- Drizzle glaze on top of the pop tart when cooled.
- Then top with sprinkles!
