This is a nice small bite-size dessert, a lot like Tartine's chocolate friands. The cupcake is light and fluffy. The recipe comes from Dorie Greenspan's cookbook Baking Chez Moi. There is a blog, Tuesdays with Dorie, which includes feedback on this Nutella button recipe. To make the cupcakes, I baked them in a small muffin tin, and put 1 teaspoon of the cake filling, followed by 1/2 teaspoon of Nutella and then topped with more cake filling. I baked these for 15 min.
After the cupcakes cooled, I topped with chocolate ganache using the same recipe as the Tartine chocolate friands (2 oz chocolate plus 1/3 cup heavy cream, or 4 oz chocolate plus 2/3 cup heavy cream).
