This was a cookie recipe that my husband found in the Wall Street Journal. Make sure to let them cool before touching. These were published as part of an article about getting better sleep. Apparently the nutmeg is supposed to help promote sleep.
Nutmeg Dreamers (~from Wall Street Journal)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 packed freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 cups flour
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup butter and cook until dark gold, about 5 minutes
- Let cool slightly, about 3 minutes.
- In a food processor, combine sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, baking powder and flour
- Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
- Let cool on baking sheet before moving, as cookies are fragile when warm.
