Pistachio or Nutella Star Bread with Puff Pastry

I made this for Christmas brunch.

 Here is what I did:

-Thawed the puff pastry.

-Layered the 2 puff pastries on top of each other. Cut it into a circle.

-Spread the pistachio cream on the bottom layer and then covered the second sheet on top of the pistachio cream.

-Put a small bowl in the middle of the circle. Cut into 16 strips.

-Twisted 2 strips away from each other and then secured the ends together. Did this 8 times.

-Brushed with top of the puff pastry with egg wash.

-Baked at 375 for 20 min.

-let it cool and sprinkled with powdered sugar

Nutella Star Bread with Puff Pastry Recipe (Allrecipes.com)

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen puff pastry round sheets, thawed
  • 5 tablespoons chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella®)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out 1 puff pastry sheet and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Spread chocolate-hazelnut spread evenly onto puff pastry with the back of a spoon. Roll out second puff pastry sheet and place on top.
  4. Place a glass or Mason jar face-down in the center of puff pastry. Use a sharp knife to cut pastry into 4 equal strips, stopping at the border of the glass. Cut through each quarter to make 8 strips, then once more to produce a total of 16 equal strips, while keeping the center intact.
  5. Twist 2 strips away from each other; pull outward and seal seams together. Repeat with remaining strips until pastry resembles a star. Brush top with beaten egg.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until puffy and golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool slightly, about 5 minutes, before serving. (baked 20 min)
